Before & After
The Challenge
This project paved Southington High School — the Southington Blue Knights athletic field at Southington High School. The school or athletic facility in Southington, CT needed a smooth, true asphalt base for a competition-grade running track or court. Final playing surfaces are installed by athletic surfacing specialists, but the asphalt underneath has to be flat, properly graded, and built to take the loads of the finished system — that base is what we built.
Our Process
The crew worked from the same trucks, paver, and rollers used on every Maisano Brothers job — there is no chain of subcontractors between the estimate and the finished surface. The same crew that priced the work delivered it on site, which keeps quality consistent from the first call through the final pass. We coordinated with the athletic-surfacing specialist on the tolerances they needed for the finish system. Subgrade was prepared and graded, a compacted processed-stone base was installed in lifts, and hot-mix asphalt was paved and rolled to a smooth, true surface ready for the playing system to be installed on top.
The Result
The athletic surfacing specialist took over with a smooth true asphalt base ready for the finish system — the foundation that lets the playing surface live up to its design.
